About Mantis

Mantis is an incredibly sweet girl. She is high food, medium prey, high ball drive. I would describe her as still a green dog as she's young and has much to learn yet learns incredibly quick. Honestly I could see her doing well in most sports or in an active pet home. Her biggest challenge is regulating when it's time to be done (off switch). She constantly wants to work/explore/train even through exhaustion. I could see her going into an active/working home but definitely not a dog that will be happy on a couch without the proper supervision and stimulation. Environmentally solid and curious. Mantis is dog friendly and curious, takes corrections well from other dogs and handler, currently living with my 4 year old Belgian Mix Soba seen in the attached pictures. I also have two cats that she does well with and respects their boundaries. Has been around kids before and does well and would be okay to be placed with dog savvy children. Mantis has no past history of aggression,bites,reactivity. Commands: Sit Down - straight no leaning to one side Here - recall and between your legs looking up at you ideally chin on you (she is off leash trained with ball) (e-color conditioned for emergency use) Target - 2 front paws on whatever you indicate to Place - sit or down until released from bed or cot Kennel Focus - eye contact Up - jump up on whatever you indicate to Off - off from target or whatever she jumped up on also used in the kitchen when she puts her paws up on the counter Good - continuation marker Yes - termination maker/release & reward Ah ah - not super specific an interrupter for whatever she shouldnt be doing. Be it eating something she shouldnt or sitting when i said down Things we're working on: Impulse control With me/Heel - relaxed heel on leash. Right side of you no more than a shoulder length in front Once upon a time chased cars but thats gone. Sometimes she'll watch them or go speed up her walk on leash. New interest in birds.
