Background: Willa was surrendered from an unfortunate situation. She was adopted and returned 2 weeks later. She was then adopted by another family and returned 2 days later. She is now past her first year in the shelter and quickly approaching her second. This has worn her down and she has started to become depressed. Willa is loyal and protective. She appreciates her space and bonds strongly with her person, developing a need to protect them and their area. Because of this, we believe she would do well in a home with a single individual or experienced dog owners that can crate train her. She would make a great protector and make her person feel safe. Willa is well-behaved in public and loves meeting new people and dogs - her protectiveness has only been seen in the home itself. Willa is a stunning and affectionate girl with a heart of gold. She's smart and eager to please, already learning commands like 'heel,' 'lay down,' and leash training during her short adoption. Willa has good manners, taking treats gently and refraining from jumping on people. She's described as a cuddle bug and enjoys reciprocating affection with gentle 'petting' using her paw. Her tail wags enthusiastically, and she'll even do a playful bow to show her excitement. She is a perfect balance of low and medium energy - she is content to lounge and play with toys by herself, but she also enjoys the occasional hike or adventure. Willa is a passenger princess and loves riding in the car. She's very well-behaved in the car and out loves going out and about with you. Willa is seeking a confident, gentle, and experienced owner who understands her needs. She needs proper decompression time in a new home, as she's been in the shelter so long and returned twice. She would be the perfect dog for a single owner, as she is loyal and would make sure her person is safe. She loves other dogs, especially males, but would also be fine in a home by herself. She does great outside of the home and in public spaces. Willa is a wonderful companion waiting for the perfect match. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, and intelligent canine companion, come meet Willa at the shelter during opening hours. She's sure to steal your heart with her charm and loving nature. She deserves a chance!
