About ELEKTRA

ELEKTRA is an 11 month old, 14 pound Pomeranian Poodle mix surrendered to us because her owner was unable to care for her. She has the softest fur, like velvet! ELEKTRA is a precious little girl with a sweet AND spicy little attitude! She likes to snuggle and give kisses but she can also be a little protective of her space with the other dogs. She was afraid when she first came in but now her little tail wags all the time! ELEKTRA had not been around many other dogs (other than her sister) and she was uncertain at first around the dogs in her foster home. But she has now discovered that she enjoys playing and is good with most dogs. She does pick and choose which dog she likes though and her best friend is a bigger doodle! She's more comfortable with a person nearby to help oversee the interactions. We believe she would be happiest in a home with another dog but not a high-energy in your face kind of dog. She would be best with a sweet, playful dog about her size. She has not been cat or kid tested. If there are kids in the home they should be older (10+). ELEKTRA is not housebroken but is working on it. She will use the dog door but doesn't always remember that she should be pottying outside. In her previous home we think she spent a lot of time in an x-pen with her sister and probably didn't get the regular house training that she needed. We believe that a home with a fenced yard is necessary for ELEKTRA. She is not leash trained (but would probably pick it up quickly with another dog to follow). She is still a puppy and can get into mischief so she should not be in home where she will be left alone for many hours. At night, ELEKTRA loves to sleep cuddled up in the big bed next to her foster. ELEKTRA has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. We are a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola FL and adopt within a 6-hour drive to Pensacola. Local applicants will be given first consideration. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments and dogs with behavioral issues are local adoption only. We review multiple applications for each dog and pick the best fit.
