About Mercy (Augusta)

Mercy was an outdoor stray until she was brought to FWACC. Mercy continues to slowly decompress from the shelter, trauma and anxiety of her previous life. Even with zero 'dog skills,' it didn't take long for Mercy to show us she is playful, adores being outside, food motivated, high in prey drive (no cats or other small critters) but gentle and LOVES people once she trusts them. Mercy is protective of anyone she bonds to, which is expected from her breed and needs the right direction to support Mercy's healthy development. Mercy ignores other dogs but can / does become aggressive if there is any stimulation at all. Mercy is house trained, polite on a leash, good with children and MUCH improved in her crate. -- Current foster comment: Seeking urgent help getting Mercy (known to FWACC as 'Augusta' A0057369877) tagged for rescue. Financial sponsorship available, if that makes any difference. In early January, Mercy was less than an hour away from euthanasia due to barrier reactivity when my family stepped in as a foster. I absolutely adore this gorgeous girl but contrary to FWACC's designation as 'dog friendly,' Mercy is not. Though we are not equipped to provide the appropriate support Mercy needs to thrive, I am determined to secure her the gift of time. Time is what she needs in order to secure a future she 100% deserves. I cannot in good conscience return Mercy to the shelter, an environment she not only shuts down in but causes undue stress and surely will be euthanized but we also cannot be her long term fosters either. Mercy has grown so much since she's been with us and I am desperate to find a rescue to transfer her for continued care and experienced handling for working breeds, effective immediately.
