Sniper is an AKC registered purebred Black Russian Terrier. He is the taller of the two. He is 5yrs old and neutered. He has his rabies shot but unsure about additional vaccines. He is affectionate but a bit pushy about it, lol. He enjoys running, getting pats, and being where the action is. He does have a few hot spots. the vet said it was the food so we switched it and have him wearing collars at times to prevent licking. He can get out of fenced spaces at times. He is very protective of his family and always on watch. He follows commands fairly well...and knows a few Russian commands. You will need to be careful when having strangers over as his protection instincts kick in until he knows that the guest is welcome and he is comfortable with them. He will need space to run and is also well behaved in the house. He needs a warm space to sleep at night. Even though they breed tolerates cold well, he had his coat cut down so he still gets cold. He does well at the groomers. He is about 100lbs and very strong. The aggressiveness noted has been toward neighbors they have decided they are people their family needs to be protected against. The owner has dementia and is unable to watch them closely enough to keep them from breaking out and going to the neighbors and intimidating them or to properly introduce and train them to be welcoming of the neighbors. About the breed- Black Russian terriers are used to living in apartments in Russian for protection/guard dogs. They do not shed much and are considered hypoallergenic (more like human hair). They are trained in a couple Russian commands (Nyet means no, sidet (sounds like Sid deet) means sit). If protection drive engages they will go after people so introduction need to be careful and intentional until the dog is familiar and comfortable with the new person, then they are great. They are also prone to try to correct small children if they are running around or yelling, ideally the home would only have older children or none at all. They also tend to do well in packs but this can also increase their protection drive. His mom is also up for adoption. We would love for them to be kept together but would also consider separating them. --Irina is an AKC registered purebred Black Russian Terrier. She is the shorter of the two. She is 10yrs old and not spade, but due to age she should not be breed. She has a bigger head than him, and is even more of an escape artist than he is. She can open doorknobs and latched gates. She is also very affectionate. She is also very protective but also extremely loving.
