Meet Shawnty! Shes about 1.5-2 years old, 60-65lbs, up to date on all shots, good with dogs, crate-trained, house-trained, and spayed Her Story - She was found as a stray in a nature preserve and brought into the local shelter where she sat scared and shaking for about 6 months on the concrete floor. When we took her out of the kennel at the shelter, she very excitedly sprinted around the play yard and happily ran up to us to give us kisses. We knew she needed a chance and would show a much better side of herself once her environment changed, so we took her home immediately! She's an absolute love bug and wants to be with her person as much as possible, but she does fine when left alone in a 'puppy-proofed' house or large crate. Because of how long she was in the shelter and the fact that she was a stray, she needs some confidence building with a family that can provide structure and discipline. She is good with other dogs as far as we know, if introduced properly. She gets along with our two small dogs, one male (22lbs) and one female (7lbs). We have not tested her with large dogs. We tested her with one child (8yrs) inside her crate and she was good, but we suggest only older children in the home because of her size and energy level. She knows basic commands (sit, lay down, come, paw). She is still learning how to play with her squeaky toys still, but she LOVES her Benebone! She also does not understand tug-of-war yet, but we are sure she'd love to learn! We have been working on leash-training her and she is getting better. She 'sits' well on a walk and is learning 'heel'! We had a bunch of guests over and she did fine with everyone after she got her initial barks out and saw that the other two dogs were confident around everyone. She has lots of energy and LOVES to play with her housemates non-stop. She would do best with a fenced yard because she gets the zoomies and has a lot of energy that needs to be released (if you want a well behaved dog). A decent fence is probably needed because we suspect she is a houdini. If you are looking for a VERY loving and playful new addition to your family, Shawnty is waiting for a permanent home! Please message me. She comes with a large crate, orthopedic dog bed, toys, some food, harness, and collar! We will travel up to 2 hours for the right home.
