About Saba

Meet Saba! She's a 4-year-old, ~70 pound female German Shepherd who's a kind, playful, goofy girl who wants to be your best friend! She absolutely loves chasing a ball and showing it off to you afterwards, and will easily roll on her back for belly rubs. She wants to run and play and would be a fantastic companion for outdoor adventures! She walks well on a leash, and has been learning not to pull. She is also learning how to sit and recall. She is food motivated and should pick up on training very well. She is friendly, smart, with no signs of resource guarding, and responds positively to having her ears, mouth and paws handled. Located at the same property as her sister Amber, Saba has had a tough life. Left outside all her life, she spent most of her time in a small enclosure or on a chain. She was abandoned by her previous owner and is in dire need of a new home. She needs a forever family who is willing to give her lots of exercise, attention, and love. She is slightly head shy, but much less so than her sister, and will give you lots of kisses if you give her scratches around her head and ears. She doesn't show signs of anxiety around people, and hasn't shown any reaction to the chickens on the property or other birds in the area, so no observed signs of high prey drive. She didn't have much opportunity to socialize with dogs other than her sister, and her interactions with cats or small children is unknown, so she would be best served with a home without any other dogs, cats or small children initially until those introductions can be made. She has been introduced to a couple other dogs through a fence at this point, and she is first a bit fearful, than overly excitable. She needs time and patience from a loving owner to help her navigate this new world of dogs so she can learn their body language and how to play properly. A backyard with a secure fence that can't be jumped is recommended.
