Hello! I am posting our boy Jiraiya as a courtesy for my mother. Jiraiya is an ~5yrs old male, neutered, orange tabby who is becoming too medically complex for our family to physically and financially provide appropriate care for. My mother became disabled both mentally and physically over the time my parents have owned Jiraiya, leaving her children not only needing to care for her needs daily, but also those of the animals in the house. Jiraiya has had ongoing issues with his paw pads/feet and has previously seen a vet for them and been given medication without much improvement, though he wasn't super compliant in medicating. Due to his ulcered pads and suspected stomatitis, he was assumed to have FIV but tested negative at the time, but testing again is not out of the realm of what is reasonable. Records of these vet encounters & test results will be provided to his new family. The ulcers on Jiraiya's feet are large and occasionally bust open, causing blood to be left where he stands/lays. Due to the pain in his feet, his litter box habits are not the greatest, especially going #2. Despite his medical issues, Jiraiya still likes/desires to eat and is very vocal in his excitement for food. He has become more reclusive in the past year, assuming due to not feeling his best, but is a loving boy when his attention is solicited. He has lived with both dogs and other cats and does well with all. An appointment is going to be set to surrender him to our local shelter due to us wanting him to desperately get the care he deserves, even if that is, unfortunately, humane euthanasia following an exam by the shelter vet and deciding his quality of life is too low or treating him would not be cost effective. He is behind on his core vaccines, but has had them in the past- records with exact dates will be provided. Email is the best way to contact me, please put his name in the subject line. We are willing to transport him to bordering states if we feel we find the perfect fit. He does not look the best in his pictures, he has been having potty accidents and tends to lay in his litter- unfortunately he is very non-cooperative for even baby wipe baths and especially water& soap baths, so I have been unable to effectively clean him up.
