Meet Frisco! He's a 2 yr old pitbulll who's beyond perfect! He has impeccable house manners. No accidents/incidents or destructive behavior of any kind. He knows what belongs to him and leaves everything else alone. He also understands 'take it' and 'leave it' so if you really want to draw a hard boundary on something and let him know it's not his. Just simply point or present it to him and say 'leave it'. He can be trusted to be left alone in the house unsupervised and instinctively knows how to use the doggie door when it's time to go potty. He is a sniffer!! He loves to sniff everything and anything and makes the cutest little piggy/snorting noises. So we've been playing scent games with him by hiding treats around the house and telling him to go 'find it'. He really wants to be a lap dog. We don't allow dogs on our furniture so we meet him at ground level. He will happily snuggle, cuddle, and loves any sort of attention and affection. Will happily roll over for belly rubs or just lay by your side and/or feet when it's down time. He doesn't require a 'warm up' period. He's just happy to be around humans. He's not shy or aggressive. He has great food manners and doesn't resource guard. He patiently waits for his food and doesn't immediately scarf as soon as you put it down. Now when it's time for you to eat he will definitely give you the big full court press puppy dog eyes but doesn't whine or beg. Just looks at you like 'maybe you might want to give me a bite someday' (we don't fall for it because we don't want to encourage begging behaviors) He loves to play! He'll ask you to play when he wants but respects if you don't want to - enter in the big pittie energy and he'll just take his toy and spin himself in circles until he wears himself out. When you're ready for playtime he's always up for a game of tug of war, fetch, and being chased around with a toy in his mouth. He'd also be a great hiking or trail buddy once we nail down his walking and leash etiquette. He is incredibly smart and receptive to training. A huge people pleaser and responds well to positive reinforcement. Also responds to treat training. He's very curious and highly observant. Check him out watching TV of another dog going through training with a handler. Fully crate trained and potty trained. He generally likes to sleep in his crate at night, takes any heavy chew treats to his crate, and will just chill in his crate when he wants his alone time. And lastly his leash manners. Huge improvement since first taking him in. He now walks on a loose leash, regularly checks in with the handler, and understands heal and will walk in-line with you and not in front of you or pull. We're still working on reactivity (i.e. other dogs, squirrels, anything that catches his attention) but he's already showing response to refocusing on the handler vs. the reactive stimulus. He's a great dog and we're putting in the hard work so he can be that perfect dog when someone is ready to give him that furever home he's been looking for and deserves.
