Sweet Daxton was first seen when he was about hit by a car in the middle of the roadway. I tried to find him for several days but could not track him down. He showed up on a cold night on somebody's security camera and you could tell he was scared and hungry and freezing. I started a feeding station and the following night he was seen again eating some of the food. Next day I put out a trap and some food trails. He came back that following evening but spotted me and took off as fast as he could with his tail between his legs. About 6 hours later he made it back, and within 15 minutes could not resist the chicken in the trap. He was so scared and unsure of my motives. I did not get a leash on him, but was able to get him into a covered pen with a decent dog house with lots of straw. He was super thirsty and ate another helping the food. The next day he was still wary, but ate breakfast and then slept most of the day. Later that day he was a complete different dog. He was still reluctant for me to try with a leash; it didn't seem as if he was even used to a collar. A couple of meals later he was all tail wags and wanting to be on my lap. He is now sleeping inside in a crate at night and in a segregated area inside during the day if below freezing, otherwise he has to stay outside during the day because too many other older dogs in the house and he's just a bit too young and puppyish for them. He is scheduled for his vet appointment and if all goes well he should be ready to go to a new home toward the end of the month.
