About Jack

Adoption Fee: $250.00
Yorkie mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

JACK is a 9 year old 10 pound terrier mix who was adopted from us in 2023. He was recently returned because his adopter had an injury that required major surgery and she is facing a long recovery, including rehab. Jack is a cute, scruffy boy with a little mohawk! He is affectionate, likes to be hugged, and loves giving kisses. He will put his paws on your leg and ask to be picked up to be loved on and loves snuggling with you on the couch. JACK is good with certain small dogs, but does not do well with bigger dogs or dogs that are active or in his face. He is fine with calm, small older dogs, preferably females, and would be perfectly fine as an only dog. He should not go to a home with kids of any age and doesn't like cats. JACK walks on a leash, knows how to use a doggy door and is 90% potty trained. He has good house manners and doesn't get into any trouble when his people aren't home. He loves to go outside and rides well in the car. A fenced yard where he can run around and burn off some energy would also make him happy. As cute as he is, JACK definitely has some issues. He prefers women over men and is protective of whoever has chosen person is, male or female. He may bite people who come near his person, normally giving a warning growl first so someone has an opportunity to back off. He was handled by several people at the vet with no problem, but he's probably best suited to a one owner home. His foster mom has not had any issues with JACK and believes that if you avoid his triggers he will be fine. Those triggers are taking away something away from him and making him do something he doesn't want to do, like get off the bed before he is ready to telling him no. At night, JACK likes to sleep at bottom of the big bed snuggled next to his person, but because of his protective tendencies we would recommend not allowing him to sleep in the bed but rather in the bedroom in a dog bed nearby.
