About LUCA JUDE

Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

BDRA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity that accepts no fees when helping individuals or other rescues. 100% of donations go directly to the care of the animals. If you'd like to help us continue our mission, please donate at: https://www.blinddogrescue.org/donate-1. Name: Luca Jude Age: DOB 5/28/20 Breed: Australian Shepherd, 50 pounds Sex: Male (not neutered) Location: San Antonio, Texas Luca needs a loving home. He currently lives with a littermate and they are not getting along since he has gone blind. Vet Info: Luca Jude is not neutered, he became blind in 2021 from glaucoma - both eyes removed. He is microchipped. He is current with his vaccinations and is HW-. Dog Info: Owner states, 'I adopted Luca and my other dog from the same litter. I learned later on that puppies should not be adopted together because of littermate syndrome. I've worked on training, exercise, working with a trainer, alternating schedules, etc and have done all that I can to not rehome Luca. I've worked on this since he went blind in May of 2021. We are 3.5 years into this and I am at the place of needing to rehome Luca.' He has bitten his brother once but becomes aggressive towards him on a semi-regular basis. Luca has never shown any aggression towards people. Luca is generally healthy and playful. Luca is outgoing yet nervous. He is good with men, women and teenagers. Owner thinks he would do best as an only dog, he tends to get nervous around other dogs. His cat experience is only with a cat outside (when he could see), he would bark and start pawing frantically at the door. It is unknown if he wanted to meet the cat or attack her. Owner has 2yo and 4mo children and Luca is very sweet with them. Luca likes to lay under the 2yo's chair (probably waiting for falling treats!). Luca adores the kids and has been very sweet with them. She also loves giving them kisses. Owner is just afraid that a child might get in the middle of a fight with the dogs and get hurt. For this reason, with small children he absolutely should be an only pet. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them. These dogs are with their owners and are not in BDRA foster homes. We do our best to screen these dogs, but make no guarantees regarding the information posted.** Please email os@blinddogrescue.org if you are interested in this sweetheart. Please know that we will ask for a vet reference.
