About Rex

Adoption Fee: $200
Boston Terrier
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Rex is a 5 year old Boston Terrier. We opened our arms to him about 4 months ago. He used to belong to a family member that could no longer keep him. Having a Boston terrier already ourselves, we made the choice to take him in. He was pretty neglected and we shortly found out that he had worms. We don't know how long he had them but he has been treated. And although he's had a tough time gaining weight, he definitely has the appetite. He is a very sweet boy! Very cuddly and great kids (we have 2 kids) and we havent had any issues in the social aspect (in regards to other dogs). He's a wonderful dog but we have had issues with behavior when left alone. He pees everywhere and we haven't been able to successfully potty train him in the time that he's been with us. And he is an escape artist when left unattended. We've tried to find all his exits but he still finds a way to get out. He cannot be left unattended at all in the yard as he will find a way out. He gets out at least once a day (multiple times I won't lie). The first time he escaped, we couldn't find him for a few days and he ended up being picked up over 20 miles away and it cost quite a bit to get him out of the shelter. He's been injured multiple times, once ripping out his toe nail and twice getting hit by a car. He's a small dude and we know that if there is a next time, he won't be so lucky. It's been very hard for me to come to terms with giving him up. And I know that a lot of his behaviors are fixable. Unfortunately with another dog in the home, small children, full time jobs, and medical/financial hardships, I can't give him the attention he needs and deserves. I know wholeheartedly that Rex is a good boy! And I've given him so much love but he deserves so much more than I can offer. I want him to go to someone that can dedicate all the time and attention Rex deserves to help him reach his full potential.
