Darling Duchess is about 2.5yrs old and weighs a tiny 30lbs. She can be a little reserved when first meeting but with just a few treats and about 10 min to warm up, she becomes a very friendly affectionate girl. According to her DNA report, she is heeler, chihuahua, Pomeranian and Shepherd. We figure it's the chihuahua and Pom that keeps her so small. She does have a temperament typical to a shepherd because she can be somewhat protective of her own home and people until she has a short time to get to know a new person that visits. Because of this, an adult only home is best. She can go into any other home and immediately be friendly and affectionate. She is really a silly, loving girl with everyone in her home. She loves to go on long walks and more preferably, jogging. She can be a bit insecure when first meeting some other dogs, but Duchess really does love other dogs of all sizes so another well socialized, playful dog in the home would be best. She loves to play with the kitties, too! After she's had her playtime and exercise for the day, she enjoys cuddling with her people. She would also like to curl up in your lap for afternoon naps. She is a great mix of active and easy going! She is crate trained and already house trained. Duchess is very curious and will sometimes get into things that don't belong to her so she should be crated when she is alone. She is a relatively quiet girl, just barking at the other animals when she wants them to give chase. Duchess does have a heart murmur and although the vet said there are no restrictions for her during exercise and playtime. She must have a 6ft securely fenced yard abd she should not be left alone for more than 6hr intervals. She must have an experienced dog owner to continue helping build her confidence when she meets other people and dogs while on leash.
