About Kali

With a heavy heart, I'm reaching out for help. I'm looking for a loving, responsible home for Kali, a 6-year-old Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix. She was rescued as a puppy by my late sweetheart, Terry, during his paramedic shift. She was the sickest of her litter, but Terry nursed her back to health and they shared a special bond. Kali is 16 pounds of muscle and energy, and she's in excellent health. After Terry passed away in April, I had to move out of our beloved homesteading property and rehome our 25 chickens. We also raised five dogs. One of my dogs, a black lab, passed away two years ago, and one of Terry's black labs passed away two months after he did. His youngest son adopted a dachshund, and I adopted Kali along with my toy poodle, Mabel, whom I've had for many years. I lived in our camper trailer for a short time before moving into a rental home. After having Kali for a few months, I realized she would thrive best on a farm or homesteading property, where her high energy and desire to work could be put to good use. I travel frequently because of my job and my elderly parents. I cannot keep her, but I will not give her up to a rescue organization until I meet someone I am comfortable with. Kali is sweet, submissive, shy, and incredibly well-trained. Terry was a K-9 trainer, and he did an amazing job with her. Kali grew up on a homestead where she loved guarding the property and the chickens. She's an active, athletic dog who needs a job to keep her busy. She thrives with structure and would be happiest in a home where she can continue being active and engaged. Again, I don't want to send her to a rescue, but I'm hopeful there's someone out there who can offer Kali the care and love she deserves.
