About Julian

Siberian Husky
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Mr. Julian is a 32-pound, 2-year-old, black and white Husky, with bi-colored eyes. He was found as a stray in California at around 10 months old, and was brought to a local shelter. He was malnourished, with demodectic mange and parasites. The shelter spent a month getting him healthy and then deemed him ready for EU because he had been there for thirty days (I no longer try to make sense of the CA shelters). He was put on a transport, along with another Husky, named Aurora, and they were brought to IL in February of 2024. The rescue that pulled him does not do out-of-state fosters (understandable), so the only way they could come was if I adopted them. No one else wanted them, and I wanted to save their lives, so that is what I did. Julian is very sweet, very good with big dogs, but also very high-energy. He needs more freedom and exercise than I can provide. Right now I am doing the 'prisoner exchange' among him, Aurora and my two Malamutes, with them all having time out of their kennel and time outside. He is housebroken. He is up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm and Advantix. He is on the thin side and I have had trouble getting him to gain weight. It probably doesn't help that he hardly ever stands still. All of his vet records would be available from TLC. He has learned to sit and stay when his food is being prepared, and will wait until I say, 'okay' before eating (vast improvement from when they both arrived). He is very good with taking toys. He will sit and wait for me to say, 'easy', and then he will gently take the toy from my hand. He does not seem to have a problem surrendering toys, either. Food, on the other hand..... I basically toss treats to him, and he is very enthusiastic about food and does not seem to care if there are any digits in the way. He does NOT do well with cats or small dogs. He interacts very well with children--my only concern being if children have food in their hands. He could use some training on some other 'house manners', such as jumping on counters. It is not in my budget right now, or I would have a professional come out and work with him. He is very smart and learns very, very quickly. He enjoys attention and will lay down on the couch in a ball if he is tired enough. I really do love him and want him to have a great life. That life is not possible with me, unfortunately. Dallo is my 100-pound Malamute, sitting next to Julian on the couch.
