Moe is a 10-month old pit/lab mix with gorgeous brindle coloring and a half blue eye! He comes from a not-so-great background of being found under a porch with his mom and siblings... in terrible condition with mange. A local rescue pulled the litter from the shelter, and we agreed to medical foster Moe while providing meds and daily baths, etc. Short story -- we foster failed... again... and Moe joined our family back in October of 2024. We have discovered, that Moe has a heightened prey drive with small dogs. We have 4 other dogs and 3 cats. Three of our dogs are 'smaller' and rescued from a varied backgrounds of trauma. The issues between Moe and the older/smaller dogs has escalated to the point where it's affecting our seniors... so we need to find Moe a better suited environment as a forever home. Moe is wonderful with people and desperately wants to please. He also does well with our large 3-yr old husky mix, however his play style is very rough... so at this point, it would probably be best if Moe was in a house with no other dogs. (unless placed with a dog savvy family that could work with him as he makes it through the teenage years). I reached out to the rescue from which he was adopted. They indicated that the do not have a place to foster him and he would have to be 'crated at xxxx' house for long hours a day'. That is NOT in Moe's best interest... so we are trying to find an alternative to help us place him. Moe is currently at a 2-week board/train camp that will set him up for success in his new home. They are focusing on basic commands as well as helping him learn how to 'react positively' to stimuli and dog-dog encounters. We desperately want to see him with a loving family so we are doing everything we can to help him succeed.
