THIS IS AN URGENT SITUATION AS BEAU WILL BE EUTHANIZED ON MONDAY, 2/10/25 at 5PM IF NOT REHOMED. I have had Beau since he was a six month old puppy. He is smart, friendly with people and affectionate with those he knows. He is good with most dogs his size or larger. He currently weighs about 50 pounds. Due to his breed, he sees ALL small animals as prey and will hunt them if given the chance. He has been an inside dog for about 1.5 years as one of my neighbors complained about his barking at squirrels. He needs work on house training as he doesn't always use the the pee pads that I put out when I'm at work. He is food aggressive around other dogs, so I feed him separately. In late December, Beau and my Boxer mix escaped frim my house to chase a deer that had come into the yard. Before I could get them under control, Beau attacked and killed a tiny Chihuahua that was on a walk with her owner. A week later, they were both classified as a dangerous dog, and I am forced to rehome him as, according to Georgia law, a household can only have one classified dog. Unfortunately, I only found out yesterday that rehoming was an option after speaking with my lawyer. Animal Services of Athens Clarke County had told me that euthanasia was the only option. Beau is 7.5 years old and will likely live to 13 years or so. He is s good companion and eager to please. He comes to his name in the house....outside, his recall is not good due to the numerous distractions. He loves Nylabones. I am hoping to find a home for him as he has several more years of good life. Vivian Taylor
