About Charlie

Adoption Fee: $100
Shiba Inu
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Having to write this post absolutely breaks my heart because having to rehome an animal is an incredibly tough decision and not one that I have arrived at easily. This is Charlie. He is a Shiba Inu little guy that will be 3 years old in May. He has been with us since he was eight weeks old, so we are the only family he has ever known. We have two cats that I was sure Charlie would be able to get used to since we brought him here as a puppy, but in the two and a half years of having him and trying everything to make it work, they are no closer to being friends. For this reason, we have to try to find another home for Charlie. He is a crazy little guy that is full of energy, very talkative at times, and always keeps you on your toes. I would really like to only find a home for him that has experience with owning a Shiba Inu. They are very stubborn little pups and will never respond to people being frustrated with them. They have boundless energy and a constant drive to hunt small prey. I do not want to place him a home where someone doesn't know what they're in for owning a Shiba and become angry with him just for being him. A Shiba Inu requires a lot of patience, positive reinforcement, and lots of physical and mental exercise. We do have two other dogs, one of which is a Shiba mix, and they three of them have always gotten along, but I think it might be best to have Charlie in a home where he is the only dog, the star of the show! This is very hard for us and it's vital that we find a home that is a fit for you and especially for Charlie. I kindly ask, again, please only reach out if you have already owned a Shiba and know what you're in for. They are an experience for sure, but totally worth it if you know how to handle them.
