BIOGRAPHY: Meet 'Pepper' This darling little fella actually came with the name Pepper when he was surrendered to the shelter. Pepper is a 3-year-old Brussels Griffon mix with the cutest under-bite, which brings out his fun personality. His coat is wiry but soft and curly. Pepper currently eats 1/3 cup Purina Pro Plan for sensitive stomach and healthy coat kibble topped with a few tablespoons of Weruva canned chicken twice a day. He loves all yummy treats and takes them very gently from the hand. His favorite is Stewart's dehydrated liver treats for training and his Greenie dental bone when he goes inside his crate at night for bedtime. When his foster Mom leaves the house and he has to go inside his crate, he gets a liver treat and a Kong cone stuffed with peanut butter that she keeps in the freezer. This little guy absolutely loves his walks sniffing and checking messages the other dogs leave behind. Of course, he delightfully leaves them messages in return. He should absolutely go with a family that is interested in making sure he gets solid leash walkies daily which include lots of opportunities for sniffing too. This guy wears a belly band when he's indoors as when he first arrived, he marked a lot. The belly band makes the marking a complete nonissue as he willingly wears them and allows you to put them on and take them off easily if needed. Given time and consistent schedule, marking will become less and less of an issue. He has been inclined to marking less inside the home when he started going for daily walks. He has actually been doing well only 2 weeks after arriving at his foster home. Pepper absolutely loves getting belly rubs and being petted. He likes to snuggle up next to his human and will follow her like a little Velcro Dog. He is also very affectional and will give his humans kisses. This smart boy is treat-motivated and is a VERY quick learner. He will sit on command, will come back when called (most times), will go inside is crate when asked, he will drop is toy when you say 'out', and fetch it when you tell him to go get it. He will also get off the furniture when asked, and 'leave it' when you would like for him to stop something he may be doing. He will also look at you on command. Pepper is a very smart little fella who will benefit from a human who will take the time to continue working with him. He likes to please his humans. Pepper initially exhibited a little resource guarding of his toys. But he learned quickly it is more fun to share them with his humans to toss so he can fetch them and bring the back. He will sit patiently for his humans to toss again, and his human will as soon as he makes eye contact. Pepper loves that game, and boy, does he ever LOVE playing tug!! Pepper is neutered, up to date with: DAPP, Rabies and Bordetella, and microchipped. . He was given topical Selamectin topical to prevent fleas and ticks, and a dose of Pyrantel Pamoate. Pepper is located in Baltimore, MD and available for an adoption fee of $400.00.
