Meet Snowflake !! This big beautiful puppy is looking for a great home. She has made so much progress in her foster home and is the sweetest thing ever. We saved Snowflake and her sister (and their mom) only a few hours before the first snowstorm hit us. They were living outside in a pen with minimal protection from the elements. They are doing really well learning to live inside and enjoy life as real dogs. (Mom is named Blizzard she is posted separately) Snowflake is a female and is approx 5 months old. She weighs 45 pounds. They appear to be hound and Great Pyrenees based off their size and mom's looks. She will likely be larger dogs. Her mom is 70 pounds and dad is unknown. She will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines as part of her adoption. Although she started her life outside in a pen she has really done a great job learning indoor house manners. She really enjoys life as part of a family instead of being outside. She has come so far and does so well now. Snowflake is a very sweet girl and extremely affectionate. She's smart and has been learning things quickly. She loves to cuddle up with you on the couch or go outside and play. She has done fantastic with other dogs and kids. She likes to have another dog around to help adjust but doesn't have to have one. She is fostered with kids and has done really well. She has not been fostered with cats so we are not sure how she would do. Snowflake has not had any trouble sharing food, treats or toys with other dogs or humans. She is not completely potty trained but is learning. She has started crate training and can be a bit vocal in there as she prefers to be out with her people. She has done fine on car rides. She is definitely new to leash walking. She was terrified of the leash when she arrived but is starting to learn how it works now. We expect her to be a big and strong dog that will be fairly energetic. Please be prepared to exercise each and every day so she does not become pent up and display negative behaviors. Training well and often is very important so you don't end up with a large dog you can't control. Pyrenees and hounds are both known for escaping yards. They go over and under fences with a tendency to roam. You will need to supervise them when they are outside. If left alone outside you are asking for them to find a way out. So far snowflake has not tried to leave the yard but it's possible she will at some point. These breeds are also well known for being loyal and loving family dogs. Adopting a young puppy is a ton of work. They will have lots of potty accidents, chew things up etc. You will need to help them learn things like leash walking, crate training and basic manners. It can be a lot of work but the reward is a dog that fits well into your family's lifestyle if you invest proper time on training with them. Please carefully consider the time and effort a puppy requires before adopting. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) 'Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com or for faster response message our Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application.'
