HELP! PLEASE ADOPT THE DUDE IF YOU: have plenty of room for him to exercise, have a little time to spend with him daily, & don't have any dominant male dogs in your home. Let me first say that this is an awesome dog. He's very loyal to 'his human'. Dude wants to please you by performing whatever tasks you request if him. He is very intelligent and a very fast learner which would make training him easy. He stays by me for the most part off a leash, pulls some on a leash, and is great in a fenced yard.Ive just started working with him on basic commands & playing fetch, both are going well. Dude loves to give hugs and he holds onto you when he gives them with his arms. It's very sweet. Dude love s to cuddle up on our porch swing whenever he can. I believe Dude would thrive the most in a home with no other dogs or just a few but no other dominant males. I found Dude as a stray during Hurricane Helene. I attempted to find his family but no luck. My home is not a match for this sweet boy. I have 6 other dogs in a small single wide mobile home. I have health issues currently. Those factors alone make it difficult for me to give the time to Dude that he craved and deserves. In the beginning Dude got a long with everyone here. As we enter our 4th month with him things are taking a change that we cannot manage due to our large family and small space. The Dude now wants to establish dominance over our non-aggressive male pit by attacking him which is physically taxing on my health condition to de-escalate. We have to keep them completely separate which is very hard for us to do considering our home environment/set up. Please note that Dude doesn't have any issues with my other dogs which are 2 female pits, a female & male Chihuahua, and also a male Rottweiler with whom he plays very well with in the yard. Dude doesn't come inside my home likey other dogs only because of having to keep him separate from the male pit. We just don't have enough rooms for this. However, his accomodations are still substantial. He has a great set up on my screened in (currently winterized with plastic sheeting) large back porch with two elevated bed options to choose from plus a heated bed pad, blankets and toys. There's a doggie door that leads into my large fenced yard allowing him the freedom to decide where he wants to be throughout his time here. My 5 dogs he does fine with are typically in the yard with him throughout the day. They run after each other and take turns rolling on their back to be the submissive one in their game. I feed all my dogs Purina One Tru Instinct turkey and Venison mixed with Fresh Pet wet food from the refrigerated section of the pet store isle. Due to Dudes higher energy level, I began giving him an additional 1 cup serving of just the dry food in the morning. I'm sure I'm leaving out something so please please reach out with questions! This is an awesome dog. I wish my circumstances were different but I feel it would be a disservice to this sweetheart if I were to force these conditions on him long-term. We will make it work for as long as we can in hoped of a better matched family to come along.
