Sienna is a 2.5 year old husky who has spent a large part of that time (10 months) in the North Central Humane Society. In her time at the shelter, the only notes on her were 'extremely shy' and 'a scaredy cat' due to her quiet nature in a very high stress environment, and we saw that when picking her up (I am currently fostering her). She also had developed an issue with going to the bathroom in front of anyone and had some accidents, but we have worked with her very closely on that and she is now fully house trained! Almost immediately after taking her home, that dog disappeared and what we saw was the loving, sweet, curious dog we have with us now. It only takes a couple of minutes for her to warm up to whomever is willing to give her scratches and become their best friend! Although energetic, Sienna is very quiet, and has a very quiet bark that only comes out rarely if she is ready for a walk. Even when other dogs bark at her on a walk, she may be curious of them, but does not respond vocally at all. Of course, she does have some behaviors that may be expected from a long-term shelter dog, but nothing to be worried about. She sometimes gets nervous around gates we walk past, and is terrified of any blunt object she sees (canes, shovels, brooms, etc). She is a great listener and extremely smart, along with very well behaved, especially for a dog in her situation. She is roughly 35-45lbs and I would say a tiny bit smaller than most huskies. As much as my roommate and I would love to adopt her, we do not have the means or space to have a pet long term, and she is a dog that deserves a yard to call her own and a family who can give her more than we currently have to offer in our small apartment. Thank you.
