Sophie can do so many tricks for treats, licks tears away when you cry, loves to play pull, likes to go driving/adventures (although more glamper than camper), and spends most of her day laying in the sun. Loves cuddles - she's independent so only when *she* wants it (her preferred spot is behind the knees or little spoon). She's crate trained, but prefers sleeping on couches. She'd totally sleep in bed with you but be prepared for an occasional grumpy growl if you move around a lot. I got Sophie from the shelter in 2019. She was shy/anxious, but after a few minutes of just letting her be, she turned into this happy, energetic girl that jumped all over me giving me all the kisses. Almost 6 years later and she is the same; still anxious (think 25lb Chihuahua mix), but so full of love when she trusts you. The problem we have is her barking/anxiety towards strangers (inside and outside of home). She's on anti-anxiety medication, but she thinks her job is protecting you, so still barks at strangers (no bites - only trouble is at the vet as she doesn't like feeling trapped). And you will not be able to cut her toenails, but we have a scratch toy that works just as well. There was a period when she was good on walks and dog parks because strangers didn't scare her, but it takes patience and consistency, and we have become caretakers for sick parents (so not currently at ours or her best). She is a very good girl, just needs a quiet home so there's less trigger stacking (meaning away from a busy city street/backyard where there's constantly people walking by). Sophie has a sibling (Boston Terrier) that she gets along fine with, but new dogs are strangers, so not sure how'd she do with other established dogs. Sophie is fairly independent so a cat is probably fine as long as they leave Sophie alone. She is afraid of small kids (they tend to be too loud), but bigger kids are fine. I could write 5 more paragraphs because I love her so much, so if you're still reading, please reach out. I just want her to be happy, and she can't be without having a little more calm/peace/quiet in her life.
