About Afton

My name is Michael Benton and I am located in Tulsa, OK. Tuesday I was up around Afton Oklahoma making a delivery in Grove. Between the Buffalo Ranch and Grove, I ran across a dog that was heading north on HWY 59 when I was heading south. I couldn't stop because of the traffic behind me and no place to pull over. I promised the universe that if the dog was still on the road when I headed back, I would stop and do what I could to help. When I headed back the dog was not on the road but at the Buffalo Ranch truck stop outside the door begging for food. She had no collar. I tried to catch her but she was very skittish. A couple of other people helped me and were were able to catch her. I agreed to take her with me back to Tulsa. As I said she had no collar and was very malnourished. She had a few ticks and was covered with fleas. When I got her back to Tulsa, I took her to the Vet to have her scanned for a chip and to check her out. She tested negative for heart worm and I had her brought up to date on all of her shots and she was given a flea and tick treatment. Didn't know her name so I named her Afton, after the town where I found her and which also happens to be the town where I was born, fate or what? Anyway, I ask the vet what breed she might be and she felt she was a pyrenees mix and probably about a year old and weighted 65 lbs. We are set to have her spayed on the 24th. I need to find her a home. I have two rescue dogs of my own, a couple of Jack Russell terriers and I just think they would not be a good mix. She is a much larger dog than mine and they as a general rule don't care for larger dogs. Presently I am keeping her at my place of business but we are closing that business and I have to be out by the end of January. and I need to find her a home or a place where she can find a home. I have been searching on line and posting trying to find her owner but not a lot of luck. Called the police in Afton and they said the Buffalo Ranch is a popular place for people to dump their dogs. I have her listed with Paw boost and a couple of other apps. Is this something you can help me with? I have attached a couple of photos of her. She is extremely gentle, very playful and eating well.
