About CAPTAIN

Dachshund
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Name:'' '''' Captain Age: ''' ''''' 3.5 years old'' Sex: ''' Neutered Male Breed: Standard Dachshund - appx 35 pounds (should lose appx 5-10 pounds) Location: Chesterfield County, South Carolina Vet Info: Aside from his vision issues, Captain is a healthy boy who is neutered and up to date on his vaccines. He has not been heartworm tested. Captain's eyes never fully developed, resulting in him having no vision in his left eye and limited vision in his right. He does not require any eye medications at this time. Info From Current Owner: Captain is a very sweet and handsome pup who is very loved. Due to personal health issues, the owner is no longer able to care for Captain so has made the decision to find him a new home. Captain is an indoor dog with run of the house. He navigates well notwithstanding his vision limitations and adapts well to new environments and situations. Captain gets along well with other pups and currently lives with two other dogs (an adult husky and a senior mini-doxie). He is also fine with cats. Captain is not possessive of food or toys and allows his human to take either away from him without any issue. Captain is pee pad trained and also crate trained but is left to free roam the house when he's home alone. He likes to go out for walks but will need to be carried up and down any stairs. Captain is good with using ramps. Captain is very outgoing and likes people and other dogs. He is a bit nervous at first due to vision limitation but gets comfortable quickly. He absolutely loves belly rubs and sleeping in bed under the covers with his owners. He loves squeaky toys but will rip up rope toys so should not have those types of toys. Captain is a quiet dog and would be ok in a private home or apartment/condo environment. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners were unable to keep them.
