I need to find a new home for my girl. Freya is a female Dutch Sheperd, about 4 years old. I believe that I am her third owner. Freya has been in my home for 2 years. I chose to adopt her from a family that had recent moved from out of state and were struggling to find a home while living in an RV. I chose Freya because I was hoping to be able to learn some dog training and have a furry friend to help me thru my own depression and PTSD thru the shared experience of that training. It turns out that Freya needs far more than I am able to give her. She is fearful of loud noises, (fireworks and thunderstorms and such). She is VERY leash reactive and has a massive prey drive. We have worked for two years on prey drive and she now does pretty well unless it's a possum or an armadillo. She is an industrial strength velcro dog which I genuinely enjoy until I'm experiencing my own struggles. She does well around other people (adults and children) and dogs so long as you can ease her into those meetings. Treats go a long way. She loves to have a ball thrown for her, however, I have had zero success in correcting her 'no take, only throw' mentality. She is spayed and chipped. She is a healthy eater and does well with 'place' while you get her food ready. She loves playing in creks and ponds, but hates bath time, although she does tolerate that and a blow dry. She is up to date on her Vax and I can provide records of such. She is a massive fan of cheese as motivation in training. She does not like being left alone, but she will tolerate it if she is given strict boundaries and a bone near her bed. I don't know what else I can say, other than I wish I could make her life more fulfilling. It's devastating for me to ask this community to take her, but I think it's the best decision for Freya. My adoption fee covers 6 months of Simparica trio for her.
