About DIETER

DIETER (Dee-ter) is a 7 year old, 16.8 pound Schnauzer who was surrendered to the rescue to find a loving home. DIETER can be a shy boy at first but is very sweet and affectionate. He is a wonderful companion dog who loves to cuddle, give kisses and get all the lovins'! He misses his person when they leave and would do best in a home where he is not alone too often. DIETER gets along with all the small dogs in his foster home and is very submissive. He likes playing with his person and one of his foster siblings but has yet to play with toys. During the day, he hangs out with the other dogs in his foster home and is typically always near his foster mom. There is a cat in his foster home but he has not had an opportunity to interact much with it. He has not been kid tested. DIETER knows some basic commands and will alert you when it's time to potty outside. He was not housebroken when we got him but with gentle correction he is definitely improving. He is well behaved and likes to please. DIETER likes to investigate and play outside. He needs supervision though because he will try to explore outside of his yard. He should be watched carefully when opening a door that leads out to anywhere other than a confined area. A fenced yard is required for him. He needs some more practice walking with the leash and does well riding in a car. At night DIETER sleeps in the bed, but will also sleep nearby in a dog bed if you prefer. DIETER has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, had a dental (lost a couple of teeth), is heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments and dogs with behavioral issues are local adoption only. We review multiple applications for each dog and pick the best fit.
