About Oreo Shih Tzu

Oreo is a male, black/white, senior shihtzu who arrived back in April 2024. Oreo weighs 19lbs. Oreo is sweet beyond words and has a heart of gold. Oreo arrived very sick. He came to us as an owner surrender and had multiple issues that were never addressed. Even during Oreo's neuter surgery, his heart coded and we almost lost him before he arrived into our rescue. The surgery was stopped and we wanted Oreo to be under the care of our vet to ensure he got the best treatment. Besides his issue during surgery, Oreo had a tumor on his rectum and also had some type of abscess growth, neither of which would heal. We spent the first few months making sure Oreo got healthy and was able to go through surgery. Oreo has been with our wonderful foster couple Keith and Becky and they have taken excellent care of him. The before and after pictures show how good Oreo looks now. Oreo has had neuter surgery, a dental, and two surgeries on his behind area. The large tumor on his rectum has been removed. Oreo is a senior, but loves life, loves people, enjoys his short walks and gets along well with everyone. This dog is amazing and his heart is soulful. Love, love this dog. Oreo is the prime example of the kind of dog our rescue agrees to take not knowing what is in store with medical care. Dogs like Oreo do not survive in a shelter environment. Their only hope of survival and happiness is to be taken by a good rescue like us who makes a commitment to saving their life and willing to see it through. Once we commit to saving a dog, we are all in! Our rescue has a lot of money invested into Oreo's medical care, but we made a commitment to Oreo and we have done everything to provide excellent vet care to help Oreo live a wonderful life his remaining years.
