Chesapeake A734549 2 Year Old Male Pit Bull Terrier Chinese Sharpei Mix URGENT Needs Rescue By 1/21/25 Chesapeake was picked up by Animal Control Officers as an injured stray on 12/21/24, Chesapeake arrived underweight, moderate missing fur with hyperpigmentation and lichenification on chest, back, and limbs, as well as ears filled with debris. Chesapeake contracted upper respiratory infection on 1/5/25 and displayed little response to medication. On 1/12/25 Chesapeake was observed having difficulties breathing, displayed symptoms consistent to pneumonia, and transferred to off-site clinic for further diagnostics and observation. Chesapeake was confirmed as being afflicted with bronchopneumonia requiring oxygen. Dependance of oxygen supplementation has decreased and currently being weaned for when respiratory rate difficulties are notated. Due to the extent of Chesapeake's current medical needs, Long Beach Animal Care Services is requesting help for Chesapeake by end of day Tuesday January 21st 2025.
