This handsome guy is Max. He needs a home because his person passed away. Max was born on December 27th, 2023. He weighs about 34 pounds. Max knows sit. He is working on 'look at me' and is working on sit pretty. He is also house trained. Max is a loyal guy who feels more comfortable with women than men. Kind, fair men can get him to warm up. We think a home with kids would be too busy for Max. Max is best with smaller dogs, and dogs who aren't rambunctious. As for his home life, he will be best as the only dog. Max is seeking a home where he can feel trust and reciprocate with his amazing heart. He will prefer a quiet home, not a home that likes to entertain or roughhouse. He would be awesome for a home with property or a quiet residential neighborhood. Max isn't a fan of fetch. His favorite game is keep-away! Max is fine on leash. He does pull some and will appreciate some extra work. He also prefers a quieter neighborhood without lots of cars or tons of dogs around. Max is good in the car and should be leashed so he doesn't try to help you drive. Max would like a home with someone who is with him most of the time. He gets nervous when he spends a lot of time alone. Max does have luxating patellas on both back legs, but the vet has checked them out and confirms vet said it likely doesn't need surgery. Max handles it well, with an occasional need to stretch to pop a leg back into place. Max is very affectionate and loves cuddling and playing. He enjoys sleeping in bed with people and does well overnight in a bed. He is very emotionally 'in tune' and, if you are upset or crying, he will attempt to offer comfort and affection. He is great at entertaining himself with his toys and will throw around toys for himself, and he enjoys playing soccer with a child sized basketball. If he's attached to you he will shadow you wherever you go. Max is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is located in Sacramento, CA, and is ready to meet the right adopter who can meet-adopt here. A home visit and vet reference are required to adopt. Please call or text, emails aren't going though.
