Courtesy Posting: STOCKTON, CA (N CAL)- APPROX 1 YR FEMALE CREAM CHOWS 'BAILEY' and 'WHINNIE' IN NEED OF LOVING, RESPONSIBLE HOMES (MAY BE ADOPTED SEPARATELY OR TOGETHER), BUT IDEALLY W/ CHOW EXPERIENCE- BOTH ARE PEOPLE/KID AND DOG FRIENDLY Please help us find a loving, responsible home for beautiful siblings, Bailey and Whinnie. They can be adopted separately or together. We were contacted by the owner who took them in at a very young age after a friend had a litter and gave them away at only 4 weeks. This owner has since found he does not have adequate time for them and would like to see them live as indoor pets and get the attention they so deserve. Please no negative comments as the focus is on finding them better homes. These pups were born on 11/17/23 and have grown up together and get along. However, Bailey and Whinnie can also be separated and do fine apart. They were initially raised indoors and potty trained for their first 8 months, but due to new people in this home, they have since been living outside and may need some redirection at first. Bailey and Whinnie have also grown up around children, approximately ages 5 and 10. Around new people who come to the home, though, please note they can be typical chows who can act protective and bark, but have not shown aggression to others. They have no reported bites. However, chow savvy homes are preferred and to continue with proper socialization with others. The owner describes them further as follows, 'I take them for walks they walk great and no barking or aggression to anyone walking by or coming by. They pay no attention to people when I walk by them also.' He added, 'Very good with kids, grown up with kids but would need to supervise around kids due to their full grown stage can be heavy or active for a child/kids with playful or jumping on them, But listens very well is telling them no; just not much trained. Not good with cats or such animals like chickens, birds. Have very high prey drive. Good with my little dogs but haven't really social them with other dogs except for family dogs that has met them. So far the little introduction when walking them and seeing other dogs there's no aggression nor barking to other dogs but will want to say hello and be on their way with the walk. knows how to sit and wait but can be hard headed just need more time and attention and will do the commands. When feeding I tell them to sit and wait and they will not eat their food they will sit and wait until told 'good girls'. Can pet them and touch them while eating; not food aggression at all. Great with being groomed.' That being said, they are apparently not fond of baths, but do not mind being brushed. Both dogs have also lived with a smaller dog in the home, and get along with other smaller dogs who visit periodically. However, please note they do have a prey drive towards cats, chickens, birds and the like, and did kill a chicken, so no little critters please. If you are interested in applying for Bailey and/or Whinnie, please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network asap who is assisting with their placement. Chow experience and references are preferred. Sorry, we cannot transport to private homes unless a rescue is involved due to risks of a home or dog not working out for any reason. All adopters will be asked for a home check (which may be virtual), an application, a vet reference and history of past pets, and an adoption contract agreeing to schedule and pay for the costs of spay and vaccinations.
