About Koko

Koko is a beautiful, sweet Mal! She is about 14 months old and 57 pounds. We rescued her and her brother back in April 2024. They were found on the streets of Long Beach, California with no tags or microchips and owners could not be found. So they were sent to the Long Beach Animal Shelter. The vet estimated they were about 5 months old. We spent thousands to get them transported to us here in West Virginia, getting them healthy (they came with a bad case of Kennel Cough), updated shots, etc and getting Koko Spayed. We found the most amazing home for Koko's brother Ammo using this site. And it was our intention to keep Koko for ourselves and to be a companion to our 6 year old male Mal. But she does NOT like him :( She would fight with her brother when we had them both, and was the obvious Alpha. But she is very attached to my wife, who spends the majority of time with them, and will go after our male if she thinks he is getting more attention. So now my wife has to keep them separated which is affecting their quality of life. My wife is so reluctant to let her go, but she knows it's what's best for both Koko and our older Mal. Koko is young enough to still be trained to do a job, be a loving companion, has a long life to live, and has a beautiful temperament. She loves everyone and gets along with other dogs (if she's not competing with them). She is super bouncy and jumps which is why we listed that she is good with adults but not kids. She loves kids but needs to be trained to not jump so she doesn't accidentally hurt them. Since we are not in a hurry to find her a new home, we will take our time in finding the RIGHT home. We prefer interested parties to have experience with this breed and understand the work, energy and commitment it takes to own a happy, healthy Belgian Malinois.
