Mega is a handsome 8-year-old, 66-pound, tri-color Husky with a heart as big as his gentle spirit. This sweet boy was surrendered to the shelter by his previous owner and appears to have spent most of his life outdoors. He came to us underweight and with signs of neglect, including severe fly-strike on his ears. Despite everything, Mega's resilience shines through, and he's ready to start a new chapter with a family who will give him the love and care he deserves. At first, Mega wasn't quite sure how to navigate life indoors-he didn't even know if the dog bed was for him! But after moving into his foster home, he has made remarkable progress in a short amount of time. While still timid around new experiences, sudden movements, and things like doors or elevators, Mega has never shown a hint of aggression. Instead, he approaches the world with sweetness and curiosity, needing a little extra time and patience to feel secure. Mega will thrive in a quiet, loving home with an adopter who understands that trust takes time. He may not be snuggly right away, but once he bonds with his human, he'll become a loyal shadow, following you wherever you go. After just a week in foster care, Mega is already proving how much love he has to give-he just needs the right person to help him blossom. Mega's Highlights * House-trained: Mega is fully house-trained and can be left home alone without a crate. He's non-destructive and well-behaved. * Cat-friendly: He's incredibly gentle with the resident 'mean' cat in his foster home, earning points for patience and good manners! * Dog-friendly vibes: While he hasn't been officially dog-tested, Mega is non-reactive on walks, even when other dogs bark at him, and he displays positive body language toward dogs of all sizes. * Quiet and calm: Mega rarely barks (unless the cat swats him!) but will let out a classic Husky howl if he hears firetruck sirens. * Great on the leash: He loves long, leisurely walks-especially in the cold-and enjoys exploring and sniffing everything along the way. * Gentle and sweet: Mega takes treats delicately and enjoys chewing on his Nylabone. He's learning what toys are and is figuring out how to make them squeak! A Few Things to Note * Timid but adjusting: Mega is still shy due to all the recent changes in his life, but he's warming up beautifully in foster care and growing more confident every day. * Weight gain needed: He's currently 66 pounds but should ideally weigh closer to 80 pounds for his size. * Picky eater: Mega prefers wet food and isn't a big fan of dry kibble. He also has a knack for begging for your food! * Learning commands: He doesn't know many commands yet, but he's treat-motivated and eager to learn. So far, he understands 'no.' * Sleeping buddy: Mega doesn't like being separated from his human at night and prefers to sleep in the bedroom-on his dog bed or, if you let him, your bed! * Heartworm positive: Mega is undergoing monthly treatments for heartworm and will need an adopter committed to continuing his care until he's heartworm-free. Mega is looking for a calm, patient adopter who will give him the time, love, and understanding he needs to feel safe and loved. With the right person by his side, Mega will bloom into the devoted companion he's meant to be. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this gentle soul, Mega will repay you with a lifetime of love.
