About Tonto

Tonto is a bold and confident puppy, bursting with energy and a playful spirit. He's fearless, happily engaging with dogs of all sizes-he had no problem voicing his opinion to an 80-pound dog and telling him to back up! He loves toys, whether it's a proper dog toy or something not so safe like a plastic bag or wrapper, everything is exciting and fun. He's the first to find a toy and proudly parade it around even if it's as big as he is. Despite his confident and playful demeanor, Tonto has a sweet and loving side. After a day full of fun, he enjoys cuddling up with his people for an afternoon nap or sleeping cuddled up through the night. Tonto is energetic and thrives in a home that can provide ample opportunities for play, exploration, and mental stimulation. He is very curious and will explore every nook and cranny. He's not a jumper or climber but is quick to slip through open doors if given the chance. He loves chase games, tug-of-war, and running around with toys. He's still a puppy, so he'll need supervision and consistent training as he grows. Tonto is sweet and playful with kids and enjoys games of chase. He's gentle but could benefit from a home with slightly older children who can match his energy level and be gentle. He is welcoming and friendly with adults as well, including strangers. He gets along with friendly dogs of all sizes and would enjoy a doggy playmate. He is great at sharing food, water, and toys with others. Still a baby, he is not yet fully housetrained but uses puppy pads and understands that outside time is potty time. Like any puppy, Tonto can be chewy and will need a puppy-proofed home with supervision. He is not much of a barker, even when left alone in a puppy-proof area. Tonto would do well in an apartment if given enough playtime and exercise. Tonto's ideal home is one that's ready for his playful, curious energy and prepared to provide the guidance and training he needs as a growing puppy. A family with another playful dog would be a great match, though he'd also be fine as an only dog with attentive owners. His adopters should understand his need for supervision (especially with open doors and chewable items) and be committed to continuing his housetraining. He would thrive in a home where he has plenty of love, playtime, and opportunities to explore. Tonto was born on 10/6/24 and is probably a Chihuahua mix.
