Courtesy Posting: MARTINEZ, CA (N CAL) - ID #A1027196 - CONTRA COSTA SHELTER- expected to be RESCUE ONLY - NEEDS CHOW SAVVY FOSTER OR HOME- 'EBONY'- 2YR OLD, 35 LB GENTLE FEMALE WHO WAS CAUGHT AFTER ROAMING AS A STRAY FOR WEEKS. X URGENT -SHELTER ASKING FOR HELP AS THEY ARE A FULL KILL SHELTER- SHE IS UNDERSTANDABLY SCARED BUT SEEMS VERY SWEET AND CALM. SEE VIDEOS SHOWING ZERO AGGRESSION AS SHE IS EVEN DRAGGED ON A SLIP LEAD We are in urgent need of finding a chow savvy home and/or foster and rescue for this poor younger purebred looking chow girl who was dumped and sadly roaming on the street. According to people: this poor dog had been seen roaming for possibly several months. She was finally lured into a kennel with meat and came in as a stray on 12/29/24. We are calling this adorable but neglected girl Ebony. The shelter said she is very shut down right now stating in the back of her kennel; but believes she's only 2 years old. The shelter was able to get a slip lead on her and pull and drag her on her kennel which allowed. We have several videos on Facebook showing zero aggression and what appears to be a gentle but very scared chow. While the shelter has told us they will continue to work with her, at a very full shelter, time is not on her side. As she's already off her stray hold and is currently Rescue only, and can be added to the euth list very soon. We are unclear will if they will release her to a chow savvy adopter if behavior improves. At a minimum, we need a savvy foster or home and or a rescue. Most rescues need a foster to save. If you are interested in fostering, fostering to adopt, or helping Ebony in some other way (ie., visiting her, pledging for his medical or rescue, transport, etc), please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to find placement asap, and can try to pair fosters or interested parties with a willing rescue group. Rescue groups may contact the shelter directly by calling (925) 608-8400 and providing ID, as well as emailing the rescue coordinator Shelly at [email protected] If you want to adopt, please contact us to see if we can get approval from the shelter.
