About Thistle

Thistle is about 1.5 years old, male German Shepard, full grown he is about 55lbs so on the small side . He has excellent obedience not on and off leash. Loves to play, go on walks, runs, or even tied to a bike for miles at a time. Also great couch potato after a walk or training session. Very friendly to everyone he has met, he is well traveled, farmers markets, festivals, hikes, stores, etc. But, he is reactive other dogs, all other dogs, he gets very worked up when small kids are screaming and darting about, and he will be cool with the cat about 90% of the time and then chase her out of nowhere. I wouldn't call either his reactivity with dogs or the cat aggressive but it could become a problem without a steadfast owner. He has been through multiple basic and intermediate obedience courses. He is crate trained and house broken, he currently rings a bell on the door when he needs to go out. He is excellent with kids one on one but like I said gets worked up with their energy.He doesn't need a fenced yard his recall is perfect, I put an e-collar on him just to keep him from chasing skunks, squirrels or neighbors dogs .i love this dog but I leave often on extended periods for work and do not trust him not to hurt the cat or another dog while I am away. Will not adopt to just anyone, my fear is that someone careless would adopt him and then take him to the pound because of his issues which I believe can be overcome. Adoption fee negotiable.
