Rehoming Our Beloved Teddy - 3-Year-Old Bernese Mountain Dog It is with heavy hearts that we are seeking a new home for our sweet Teddy. Teddy is a three-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, weighing about 90 pounds. He's an incredibly affectionate and loving dog who adores attention, snuggles, and being close to his people. However, Teddy has developed some behavioral challenges that we, as a family with a young child and another baby on the way, are not equipped to safely navigate. What started as typical puppy behaviors, such as nipping and food guarding, have unfortunately progressed to more serious issues like growling, showing teeth, and occasionally lunging when being reprimanded (e.g., chewing shoes or getting into the trash) or when certain areas like his paws are touched. On one occasion, Teddy bit my hand and barely broke the skin. He is wonderful and gentle with our 15-month-old daughter and has never shown aggression toward her, but we simply can't take the risk of something happening. While we're 99% sure Teddy would never harm her or anyone else, that 1% of doubt weighs too heavily on us, and we've made the heartbreaking decision to find him a new home. Teddy is a deeply loving dog who would thrive in a home where he can receive lots of attention and care, ideally with an experienced dog owner who can help him work through his challenges. He needs a calm, patient environment and someone who can provide consistent training and structure. This decision has not come lightly, and it breaks our hearts to let him go. We want nothing more than for Teddy to find a home where he will be safe, happy, and loved unconditionally. If you are interested in adopting Teddy and feel you can give him the care and attention he deserves, please reach out to us. We would be happy to answer any questions and discuss further details. Thank you for considering giving Teddy a second chance at a loving forever home.
