About Ludo

Meet Ludo! The best word to describe this one-year-old male Anatolian is F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S. He loves everyone from adults to kids, and does well with other dogs. Ludo is an XXL breed that is known for being a good guard dog and herder with lots of endurance. The wonderful staff of the Westfield, MA Animal Control love his sweet personality and know he'll make a great companion for a person or family who can provide what a dog like him needs. On weekends a volunteer has been taking him on outings. They go on two-mile hikes and then practice nose work and brain games. Ludo would love an adopter who can make these types of activities part of his regular routine. Ludo passed a behavior assessment with flying colors. He doesn't have any food, high value, or toy aggression, and has no issues being touched. Independence is also common in Anatolians so it's no surprise that Ludo has a penchant for wandering and exploring. He was actually found as a stray while on one of his solo adventures. This wanderlust means Ludo must be supervised and leashed when outdoors, and he will need work on recall. A large fenced-in yard to play and run freely is highly preferred. We do not know for sure how Ludo is with cats. He's only met one face-to-face since being in the shelter, but that cat lashed out at Ludo and scared him half to death. However, a really good home with a sweet dog-savvy feline may be considered. Wish list: An active and committed family with large dog experience. Due to size and herding tendencies, no small children. Ages 6+ only. Large yard. FYI, Ludo has no farm experience. Ludo is vaccinated and microchipped.
