DAPHNE IS STILL WAITING (what feels like a 1,000 years) '| ى'۬While others get chosen, she's overlooked - time and time again. Daphne is the dog people pass by in the kennel without a second glance. They see a medium-sized brown and white dog and keep walking. But what they don't see is the gentle heart behind those big, soulful eyes. They miss the sweet, affectionate girl who just wants to love and be loved. When I met Daphne, she had just come in from a walk with a volunteer. Her energy was calm and easygoing - a glimpse of what life could be like if she were in a home where she gets regular love, routine, and care. She walked nicely on leash with only light pulling, and housebroken. In the yard, she's not a high-energy player, but when she found a rope toy, we played tug for a bit and she lit up. Other toys didn't hold her interest, but maybe she's just saving her excitement for the brand-new ones waiting in her forever home (hint hint ե). Daphne is around 4 years old and just over 50 pounds - not too big, not too small. She knows 'sit,' takes treats gently, and gives sweet kisses. She's a well-mannered, loving girl who's been waiting far too long. Update '۬This post is going out as a prayer - that her person, her angel, is reading this right now. The holidays have come and gone'| a new year has begun'| and still, not a single application. Not one. Daphne has lost her foster and has been in boarding for a long time now. She is locked in a kennel for most of the day and growing more miserable by the day. Her spirit is breaking. And the heartbreaking reality? If no one comes for her, her time may soon be up. We know she's not perfect - she's not good with small animals and she can be selective with other dogs. But that doesn't mean she doesn't deserve a chance. She adores people and would thrive as your one-and-only or with a friendly male dog. She's house and crate trained, loves walks, and would do best in an adult home (or with kids 10+ due to her puppy-like energy). But most of all, she needs love. She needs someone to see her. Daphne has been a good girl all year - and all she wants is a home. Please, if you can foster or adopt, text Kat at 516-457-3678. Come meet her - you will fall in love. Let's give this sweet girl the second chance she's been waiting for. Let's make 2025 her year. Here is her youtube video with pictures and videos of her loving and sweet personality .
