About Berto

Please help me find a home for 1 year old neutered male, Berto. We agreed to take Berto and his littermate sister from a woman who was pregnant and couldn't keep the dogs anymore. We were told they got along. We have learned that we were naive and that littermates often have issues as they grow older. The 2 dogs have had a few skirmishes that we have been able to break up. Now we are not allowing them to be together and are doing a crate and rotate protocol. We have come to the conclusion that this is not a good life for either dog and that we will need to find a new home for one of them. We are deciding to rehome Berto and keep his sister because he is the more adoptable one. His sister has emotional and medical needs while Berto is in perfect health and has a more balanced temperament. Berto has also just completed an intensive 3 week board and train program. He is house trained, knows all basic commands and is now e-collar trained. Due to his breed we are concerned that he could end up in the wrong hands. He does need a warm up time when meeting new people, but once he knows that a person is not going to hurt him he is very sweet, docile, and affectionate. We are willing to continue financially supporting Berto and/or making a donation to the organization that finds him a new home.
