Dexter is a neutered Dogue de Bordeaux who will be 3 on January 20th. He is an affectionate, amazing family dog. The only reason we are considering alternate placement for him is that he's suddenly starting killing poultry and livestock. Since we have a small farm, this behavior has seriously restricted his outdoor activities (and therefore quality of life) here. He LOVES people, especially kids! He is a cuddler. He's very gentle with my toddler. He plays well with other dogs and cats. However, I would not trust him around other small prey-type pets (such as rodents, birds, etc.). He would make a decent property WATCH dog (as far as alerting to visitors), but he is much too friendly to be a guard dog. I spoke with my vet about the keloid scarring on the top of his head. He assured me it was not hurting him, but could be removed with surgery. I didn't think it was worth the stress for something cosmetic, but that is an option if it bothers you.
