A female owner is needed for this pup. He's afraid of hunter looking males. We need your help for the dog that we have had for three months. This dog showed up to our door on Sep 22nd. He was boney but yet very friendly. We tried to find the owner, but nobody claimed it. We neutered him, fed him, and provided a safe environment. We named the dog Frank and bonded well. However, the look of my husband triggered Frank in the second month. He does look like a hunter with his knitted hat and beard face. Frank has snipped at my husband twice, but the aggression came from fear. He was like 'I'm afraid of you. Please do not come near me.' In the process of trying to find a person who may take Frank, we coincidentally found his previous owner. The guy told us that he owned the dog, but he gave it away a while ago, which I could not believe. He has 46 other chained up dogs in his property and he tried to raise Frank as a hunting dog. Frank didn't show any interests toward bears, moose, nor deer. He wasn't aggressive enough for the guy. When the guy gave away Frank and when he showed up to us was about the same time. People who know him told me that Frank was lucky that he didn't get killed by the person. Knowing the history, we have tried one-on-one dog training, anti-anxious med, and ...everything. When the med was working, Frank wags his tail to my husband. He likes him. But when he's out of med, he still growls at him. Yet, my husband and I were still trying. Our plates were so full. We had to change his anti-anxiety med and the new one takes 2-6 weeks to kick in Frank's system. The first two days were okay, but not after that. Bad things keep happening. A major family issue came up and we cannot have any space on our plate or bucket, whatever you would call it, to take care of Frank. I had to give him Benadryl along with his new med, as told by the vet, to calm him down. With that much growling, I cannot take him for a walk with my husband anymore. My plate is fully full and we need help desperately. Are there any opportunities for us to bring Frank to your facility soon? Frank is a two year old hound mix. (Bluetick Coonhound and Walker Coonhound) His vaccination is uptodate. He's neutered. When he showed up to our door, he weighed only 60lbs, where he should be over 75 for his age and breed. He gained 3lbs with us since he came to us. He is so sweet to kids, adults, and other dogs, just excluding my husband. I am a teacher and once I took Frank to my school. He never became aggressive to any of the students. He kept wagging. He got bitten by a dog the other day, but he didn't fight him back. Just rolled up his tail and came back to me . He was just trying to say hi to the dog indeed. He can go potty outside and can tell me when he wants to go. He needs help for leash training when walking. He learned how to cuddle with me on a sofa. (Before that, he was just pacing all the time.) When med was on, my husband was depressed, and Frank just sat next to him, giving him much love and comfort. The only stupidity of the trauma from the previous owner bothers Frank. We want to help him so much, but our plates are so full now and it's not fair to Frank at this moment to be with us. Please, help us.
