Kotay is a 7 year old, 42 lb. neutered male in Brooklyn, NY. I am a devoted companion. I am so smart and active. And I need a new home%BD'%BD| Are you the one for me? %BD'%BD%BD Kotay is a smart, loving, active and playful boy. He is housebroken, leash-trained, and curbs to use the bathroom. He knows several commands including sit, stay, drop it, leave it, down, off and roll over. He catches ball and frisbee, and has even learned how to use an automatic ball launcher in the past. He is also crate-trained. Kotay loves to curl up on the couch with his family during movie night. He sleeps well in bed with his parents, staying pretty well in one spot all night. He LOVES to catch a ball, and accepts brushings in between each throw. He is good during a bath. He would gladly learn a million commands or do agility training, but he also seems as happy to be lazy around the apartment during the day. He is VERY food-motivated, but is also delighted just to be with you and receive your pets. He looks positively adorable when he lays his head on a pillow, which he loves to do. He 'snurfles' on the bed when excited for bed time, and will even climb into your lap for a cuddle if allowed. He also likes to climb onto the back of the couch and put his head on your shoulder. He loves to be near you and will follow you with DEDICATION both indoors and outside. You do not have to worry about him running away. He is by your side at all times. Kotay has behavior issues when it comes to unknown dogs, people or animals. Though once he accepts someone into his tribe, he is pretty well trustworthy around them (tho if already stressed or out of context, he can get confused to bark). According to the ACD Rescue Association, this could be due to his confinement from city living. While he has safely lived with a child for four years (child from birth to 4 years old), we have never taken a chance with him being near anyone else's child, and we have begun to feel unsafe with him around our 4 year old as well. He simply gets too excited and stressed by kid energy. He gets stressed when left alone, and has been known to roam the apartment in search of food, or to tear through a trash bin, though he has never accosted furniture. He has a medical history that risks relapse with each future vaccination. Ideally he could live somewhere that he needs minimal vaccines. Exact diagnosis explained here: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239). To explain the history, he started showing symptoms, but with treatment with Prednisone, it was fully resolved. We will transport him to his new home, wherever that is. We will ask for a $125 donation to either the ACDRA or whatever rescue group facilitates his successful rehoming. Please give us a call to ask ANY questions that you might have. I think he could be homed with other animals if the owner knows how to introduce them and handle any scuffles that may arise. He is such a sweet boy who deserves a long life in a home with a person who deserves a loving, protective, and constant companion.
