About Frank

Adoption Fee: $150
French Bulldog
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Frank. He is the cutest most loveable little guy who is silly and playful and will give a lot of happiness. I adopted him from SL County Animal Services about 5 months ago. When I adopted him I was told he was surrendered due to biting his owner who was breaking up a fight. I didn't see any issues with that and took him home. However, now having him for 5 months I've learned a lot. I want to highlight his issues so whomever adopts him has all the information I wasn't given. Had I been given all of the info, I would not have adopted him since my living situation isn't conducive to what would be best for him. He really is such a sweet boy and I hate that this is where I am, but I'm utterly helpless. Frank is very protective of women, which is great..if you live alone. He does not like men, most of the time, but especially when the man is walking towards the woman he lives with. He has gone after my fianc%BD%BDe several times and will nip, lunge, and growl. I did buy an ultrasonic deterrent and this does help, but I can't carry it around every second of the day and I can't chance my fianc%BD%BDe or brother or son getting attacked any more. He hasn't broken skin, but I can't say that he never will. I was just on a 2 week vacation with my daughters and he does fine with them coming up to me, once he smells them. But he doesn't allow that same situation for my fianc%BD%BDe, he will just try to attack him. For this reason, I really think he'd do better in a single female home or where multiple females live together, but to be safe, I don't think he should live with men. It isn't fair to the men and it isn't fair to Frank to have to live on edge or get in trouble because he thinks he is doing the right thing. If I lived alone, I wouldn't even consider getting rid of him, but I cannot live with the stress of him attacking my partner any longer. He goes to dog daycare regularly and does fine with MOST dogs and he doesn't have an issue with the men that work there. He is great on a plane (you can only take him as your carryon-not in the cargo hold, as most airlines don't allow short snouted dogs in them), so if you travel, he would love to tag along! I bought a carrier with wheels that can go with him to his new home. He is current on vaccinations. For his health issue, most Frenchies are susceptible IVDD. He has gone to the vet for this and put on medication. As long as he's not jumping off furniture a lot, there shouldn't be any issues. I did buy doggie ani-inflammatory pills to stick in his food in the mornings and he hasn't had any issues since. He is not at a stage where he needs surgery, per the vet. But this is for his adopter to be aware of, so again, all his information is coming with him. I really want what's best for him, because I don't want him in the shelter system, especially with his bite history. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
