About Max

This handsome shepherd boy is 6 yr old Max. He found himself at the shelter after his owner got arrested. The owner's father came for him, but as they were processing Max to leave, they found a microchip on him and he went on hold again. The father never came back for Max Now Max will lose his life on December 18 (WED) if no one saves him. It's frustrating to see how some shelter staff lack the empathy or understanding of what dogs are truly going through, both emotionally and physically. This dog has spent many years with his owner, but now he finds himself abandoned in a dangerous shelter, where he's not getting the exercise and care he's used to. Naturally, he's stressed-confused by the sudden separation from his owner and the change in environment. Instead of offering compassion, the shelter staff labeled him as an 'alert' dog as soon as he showed signs of stress, as if his anxiety is a permanent trait. This makes it even harder for him to get the help he needs. What they fail to recognize is that kennel stress is temporary. With the right care, love, and time, dogs like him will calm down and start showing their true, gentle selves again-often within just a week after being rescued.
