About Dixie

Dixie had been abandoned at 5 months old. I rescued her then, and she is 8 months old as of December 6, 2024. Her appearance is American Black Lab, but her personality, activity level,and intelligence is Border Collie. She is a very high energy dog and very much in the puppy mania stage. She needs a very experienced handler. She loves to be trained and learn new skills. She is exceptionally intelligent, with an excellent memory and willingness to learn new things. I think she would be a Superstar Agility Dog. She is exceptionally acrobatic! I am unable to keep her because I have a chronic illness, and I am moving next year. I will be living with and near my grandchildren who are all very afraid of dogs. Dixie has had the benefit of a fenced in 20x40 play area and a fenced 1.6 acre yard. I've been exercising her from 1:00 to 2 hours a day allowing resttime and the opportunity to poke around and forage. She knows numerous commands, but her attention span is still somewhat limited. She's going to be a gorgeous and devoted dog when she grows up! But she needs additional training from a very experienced handler. She is a jewel in the rough! She will need a good 3 months to adapt to a new home. Also, she has a very short coat and does not yet like wearing jackets. So I keep her in an indoor heated space when the weather is very cold or very stormy.
