Abbie was recently adopted from a breeder. She is a retired from breeding after one litter. She has been with us for a week, and has been calm, usually gentle, and easy going. However, she last night bit a child in an unprovoked situation and therefore is not suitable for a home with children. Beyond that she is non-reactive to other animals, is non-destructive in the house, is house broken, and generally very mild-mannered and sweet. This unprovoked biting incident was out of the blue and feels uncharacteristic, but I'm also not willing to risk further harm to the kids. Shelters are full and I have limited options. If you have a home without children, she is tolerant of ear and eye cleanings, nail trims, long car rides, and pretty much everything you could ask of her. She was not in any way teased by the kids nor were they acting unruly at the time of the incident. I've been training dogs a long time and cannot identify the cause of this behavior. She comes with bedding, toys, leashes, collar, genetic testing, and all AKC paperwork.
