Name: Luke (Lucas) Age: DOB 12/11/2012 Breed: Basenji (22 pounds) Sex: Male (neutered per owner) Location: Montgomery County PA Vet Info: Luke is neutered and heartworm negative per his owner. He is not current with vaccinations. Luke's owner tells us that Luke is about 90 - 95% blind with some vision in one eye. He's blind due to a degenerative condition that is common in Basenjis and has been blind for about a year. Dog Info: Luke's owners are no longer able to give Luke the time and attention he needs and deserves. They write, 'He is depressed because we cannot give him more attention now that he is blind. He needs to be with someone that can give him constant attention. We travel and our lives are too busy for him.' Luke is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained. He knows the commands, Sit and Go Potty. Luke can be described as nervous and shy, and is good with men, women, and children. He may get startled and try to snap at other dogs, but hasn't made contact. He prefers people over other dogs and would like a home without other dogs. He is not good with cats. Luke's owners gave us more information about how he is in new situations: 'He shakes abit and then he gets familiar and relaxes with his blanket.' Luke enjoys sleeping and cuddling with his people.
