Meet Cosmo! This beautiful boy is searching for an exceptional experienced Mom or Dad. Cosmo is a neutered male, 50 lbs, 18mos old. Wiry & slightly shaggy coat; very low shed. Housetrained and knows lots of behaviors such as sit, down, wait at doors, touch, Drop it, Leave it, loose leash walking (tho still wants to chase critters). Strong recall/come when called. Seeing and calmly passing other dogs is a work in progress. He did beautifully in his foster home and with his family--sweet and affectionate, fun-loving and very bright and responsive to training. However, he struggles with overreactions too much in his active family's day-to-day life such as lots of neighbors, visiting children in and out of the house, dogs on walks, workers/construction, etc. While he is an energetic young boy and loves walks, hikes, etc, the ideal home for Cosmo would be one with just one or two people and a quieter atmosphere. Cosmo would feel much happier, safer, and more relaxed with a slower-paced, more predictable life. He really is a great catch for the right person! We are happy to answer any questions and talk through to determine if Cosmo would be a good fit for you. Particulars/Must-haves: - Predictable, low-energy home with few visitors and surprises is best. - Need experienced dog owner who is able and willing to continue training and management to set Cosmo up for success. Also willing to advocate for Cosmo on walks, giving him space from other dogs and helping him pass strangers and dogs that can sometimes cause him to overreact - His new person must appreciate and adore his beautiful big bushy beard and eyebrows and tell him daily how handsome he is!? - As a master cuddler, Cosmo is definitely hoping for someone who will welcome him on the sofa and share his love for naps and snuggling - Covets a good game of tug and fetch! Also loves to sniff, explore, forage. Would LOVE to see him doing scentwork or tracking! - Fenced yard required; privacy fencing a bonus!! - Great with the family girls, ages 6 & 9. However, other children-friends, neighbors, etc- are stressful for him. He becomes guarded and worried, and Mom is only comfortable if he is gated when kids are over. So a quieter home with few visitors is better for him - Cosmo will go to his new home with all the things that make him comfortable-- bed, crate, harness, toys, bowls, food and more - Used to play beautifully with other dogs but now gets reactive and overaroused. There's a chance this may change in time with some work but also possible he is a dog that prefers people over dogs. - Best if he's an only dog or resident dog is calm and easygoing, and of course introductions go well If you would like some additional information on Cosmo or an application please email us at [email protected]
